Dattaatreya Swamy Temple is located near Chamundeshwari Temple and is near to River Kapila. This temple has idol of Guru Dattaatreya, who was born with the blessings of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Because of this Dattaatreya has 3 heads and it signifies that Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are different forms of the same supreme Paramaathma.
Initially Sri Dattaatreya was the only deity in this temple. Later idols of deities Sri Sharabheshwara Swamy, Sri Pratyangiraa Devi and smaller idols of Sri Amruta Mrutyunjaya Swamy, Dakshina Murthy, Sri Lakshmi Hayagriva Swamy and Deva Dhanvantri were installed.
Sharabheshwara Swamy is an avatara of Shiva and in this form he calmed the furious Narasimha (avatara of Vishnu). Every Sunday, abhisheka is performed to Sri Sharabheshwara Swamy during Raahukaala (4:30pm to 6pm). Please visit the page about Sharabheshwara Swamy for more details.
Pratyangiraa Devi, is one of the forms of Paarvathi (Aadiparaashakthi) and mostly worshipped for protection from black magic and evil entities.
